Simon Rushby: Bio

Simon Rushby

Simon Rushby is a published songwriter, composer, musician and teacher living and working in Surrey since he graduated with a music degree in 1990.

Recent songwriting and composing work has been signed to publishers such as DWB Music Ltd (a sub-publisher of BMC/Universal) and Platinum Music Ltd in the UK, and in 2002 he won the jazz/blues category of the UK Songwriting Contest with co-writer Matt Brimilcombe. He was a finalist in this competition again in 2007.

Simon is now securing cuts and placements for his work, and there will be news of releases in the Spring of 2008.

Simon was classically trained as a pianist and bassoonist and he is also a busy conductor of classical and musical theatre repertoire.

Collaborators have included Michael Kruk (Planets, Katie Melua, Avril Lavigne), Paul Drew, Jules Wilson and Matt Brimilcombe.

He has also had success as a composer for the theatre, with notable work for the Green Pavement Theatre Company (Wexford Festival and UK tours) and also closer to home at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill and the Hawth in Crawley.

Simon writes songs and instrumental music in a variety of styles and always tries to keep his music original and fresh.
