April news - 9 April 2008

I've got a song on Born Crain's new album "The Pleasure of your Company' which is due out in May. The song, co-written with Born, is called "I Won't Be There".

I've been working with DWB on an album of jazz arrangements for leading Russian musician and film composer Alexander Shulgin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shulgin_Alexander).

More details will follow next month.

Finally, Platinum Music Ltd are re-launching their library soon, and I hope to have nearly 20 tracks signed exclusively to them, ready for sub-publishing to majors worldwide.

Exciting times! Thanks for your support. S x

Christmas time.... - 23 December 2007

A very restful, peaceful Christmas and fantastic 2008 to all who have happened by my site and all who know me. 2007 has been exciting, 2008 will be more so! Thanks for all your support

Partnership with DWB - 16 September 2007

I'm signing four songs to publishers DWB Music Ltd. 'I Won't Be There', 'Die Away', 'Forever with me' and 'This Is Me' now have fresh, fantastic sounding demos and are being actively pitched around the world by DWB, including at Popkomm and Midem. Listen to clips of these songs on the 'listen' page. Fingers crossed, there might be news of a placement with an artist soon!

UK Songwriting Contest results - 15 August 2007

'I Won't Be There' has been named as a finalist in the 'Pop' category of the UK Songwriting Contest, 2007. There were over 5000 entries, so it's good news that 'I Won't Be There' did so well. I also had three songs placed as semi-finalists.

'Cheatin' Lover' won the Jazz category of this contest five years ago so it is great to be up there amongst the successful entries again.

Brand spanking new versions of 'I Won't Be There', 'This Is Me' and 'Die Away' are soon to be completed by the production team at DWB, and clips of these songs are being posted on the 'listen' page as they are completed.

Platinum Music launch - 19 June 2007

I'm very proud to be a writer for Platinum Music, a revolutionary new production music library which launches today at the Broadcast Media Show at Earl's Court, London. I have 17 tracks contracted to Platinum - you can check them (and the rest of the library) out by going to www.platinummusic.co.uk and entering my name into the search box!

'This Is Me' available for download - 5 February 2007

On February 3rd I was delighted to be part of a fantastic concert organised by Abi Cox to raise money for our local Mencap Youth Group in Reigate, UK.

For the occasion I wrote and performed a song called 'This Is Me' and I am now really pleased to be able to offer it for download in order to raise more funds for the group.

You can click the link on the 'downloads' page to go to my US page on iSound. ALL the profits from the sale of this song will go to the Mencap Youth Group.

Please consider downloading this song for 99 cents, safe in the knowledge that 72 cents of this money will go to providing better facilities for people with learning disabilities in Redhill. (The rest of the money goes to those mean credit card companies)..

Thanks so much for your support.

'Die Away' - 20 December 2006

Hi folks and Merry Christmas to everyone. Thanks for all the fab feedback - especially on 'Die Away' which seems to float a lot of boats in myspace land especially.

Consequently I've worked with Darren at Apple Beam (what a producer!) to produce a bang up-to-date pop version of the song, which you can now hear top of the list on the 'listen here' page. For those of you who prefer the piano acoustic version, that's there as well.

More to come very soon, including the option to buy downloads. I really appreciate all your support

September 2006 - 12 September 2006

Hi folks. I'm really grateful for all the support I'm still getting on this site and also on my 'myspace' site which seems to be rocketing. Latest news from Rushbyville....

The film and TV stuff I mentioned in April is now under licence to Platinum Music who launch as THE online music library later in the Autumn. Platinum has some unique marketing ideas and contacts and I think they are going to be huge.... so very pleased to be on board with all of that.

Loads of people come my way asking if I'd like to collaborate, and being someone who can't say no means I've got lots of half finished co-writes in the top drawer at the moment. I am desperate to finish all of these and get recording this album I keep banging on about. Stacks of really talented musician buddies have offered to play on it and if - sorry when - it ever gets done it has got to be the best I am capable of. We'll see! I keep coming up with alternative track lists for it but I have a sneaky suspicion I've not actually written half of it yet.

Finally - feedback! It's so important to me. If you have a minute to email or leave a guestbook message - particularly saying which song you like best (if any) and why, that will help me a hell of a lot in finally deciding what way this album is going to go.

Oh yeah, and I have a throat infection, Get well soon me.

Thanks all, Simon xx

Film and TV Music released - 14 May 2006

I have added to the site a selection of instrumental music written this year for licensing to possible TV, advertising, coporate video and film projects. Much of this music is soon to be under contract with a leading UK online library - more information about this to follow.

Please feel free to check out the selection of instrumental music now available on this site. Once again, many thanks for stopping by and showing interest in my music!

April 2006 update - 15 April 2006

Time for an update! Since the last blog there's been a bit of a change in direction in my writing since a few potentials have appeared on the film/TV side of things. So the album is 'on hold', while I press on writing a huge number of two minute wonders, mostly instrumental, with a view to getting some library contracts. Hopefully I'l be able to post some of this stuff up in the near future - watch this space, and thanks again for checking by. Please leave me a message or send an email!

Happy 2006! - 1 January 2006

A very happy and prosperous 2006 to everyone. Thanks so much to all those wonderful people who have taken time to visit the site and give me constructive feedback. The site is very much in its infancy and I hope to spend some time over the next month or so improving it and making it more search engine friendly. In addition to some active promotion of my material this year (with a number of interesting looking pitches in the pipeline) I also hope to have a CD available later in the year. Whether it's an EP or an album remains to be seen! Watch this space, and keep on feeding back. Thanks again, love Simon

Website launches - 26 December 2005

...and Merry Xmas to you too. Finally I've got round to launching simonrushby.com thanks to those kind folk at hostbaby. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the music (hopefully there's something for everyone), laugh at the photos and don't forget to give us feedback!

UK Songwriting Contest success - 4 April 2003

'Cheatin Lover', a blues song written by myself and Matt Brimilcombe, has been announced as the winner of the Jazz and Blues category of the inaugural UK Songwriting Contest. We were informed of our success on New Year's Day 2003, and subsequently were covered by the local press in Surrey, UK, where we are based.

The UKSC site (www.songwritingcontest.co.uk) has a link to this story on its 'in the news' page.
